About Terese

Growing up with an obsession for hair, fashion, and all things beauty, I enrolled in cosmetology school as soon as I graduated high school. When I earned enough hours I started working as a hairstylist at a mall salon in New Jersey.

From the first day, I loved  being in the salon cutting and coloring hair. One day while waiting for a client to arrive, I was flipping through the pages of American Salon Magazine (Remember the days before scrolling down and swiping left?).

An ad read:  "Join Trevor Sorbie’s Art Team and become a platform artist and educator". All I had to do was send an audition tape to earn a coveted spot on his team. I thought to myself "I got this!!"

While making the demo tape I later realized I forgot to turn on "record" for the voice, so I then had to re-do the tape with a voice-over. I soon found out the company had lost my video and I had  to make yet another video.

After waiting, what seemed like forever, I received a letter informing me I was accepted to go to LA to train with Trevor and his talented art team. It was a dream come true.

Always loving the glossy pages of fashion and hair magazines, looking for the latest hair trends. I dreamt about styling models' hair for magazines and fashion shows and knew the next journey was to NYC. Taking my state boards over, only this time in NY, I earned a cosmetology  license and found a salon to call home, David Ryan Salon is a trendy boutique salon in NYC Hell's Kitchen and it was a perfect fit.

After working and observing Trevor Sorbie in London, I approached my boss in NYC and he made me the  Editorial Director and organized   a team of photographers, makeup artists and fashion stylists. We all collaborated on the shoot concept and I designed hair  looks. This gave all of us the opportunity to grow our fashion  portfolio and in return got DRS  published in fashion a trade magazines.

This is when I entered NAHA (North American Hairstyling Awards) Classic and not only got nominated, but won the coveted award.

Before long I had an agent in London and in NYC working as an editorial stylist with models and celebrities traveling the world. I also assisted Eugene Souleiman who is one of the top session stylists in the world numerous time traveling to London, Milan, and Paris. I worked the fashion shows, shoots for Italian Vogue and Victoria Secret's shows to name a few.

As an editorial hairstylist, traveling the world for high-end editorials and photo shoots with models and celebrities, winning a North American Hairstyling Award, and being featured in fashion and trade publications while doing in-salon education helping stylists build their brand has been a dream come true and hope you will enjoy reading my hair stories and find them inspiring.
